Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of O’Connor Free Methodist Church is our mission to our community and the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. O’Connor Free Methodist members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as preparing after-service snacks and lunches, mowing the lawns, ushering, and preparing the church bulletins.

Missions and Outreach

OFMC is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world.  We actively support the global ministries of the The Free Methodist Church in Canada with our money and our prayers.  Julie Arnold, one of our members is currently in the Asia-Pacific area, where she has begun language training to better serve the people.  For further details of Julie’s experiences, she can be reached at julie_arnold@ntm.org.

International Child Care Ministries

International Child Care Ministries (ICCM) is a ministry of The Free Methodist Church in Canada.  This is a partnership program that supports children in numerous countries within the continents of Africa, Asia, South and Central America.  Children are provided with the necessary food, clothing, medicine and education; to meet their basic needs.  Children also have the opportunity to learn of Christ’s love for them.  Currently, O’Connor Free Methodist Church supports 11 children from various countries, including Brazil, Burundi, Haiti, India, Kenya, and Nigeria.  Thirty dollars per month is all that’s needed to reach out as a partner with a child in need.

Local Outreach

We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.  OFMC takes an active role in a number of community events including O’Connor Day and the Regional Community Health Fair.

Music

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music ministry which includes leading worship and praise, accompanying the congregational singing, and performing special music.  These volunteers who use their talents and gifts to glorify God are an important part of the ministry of O’Connor Free Methodist Church.  Regulars include Craig Parker, Donna Grandfield, Paul Rothenburg, Christie Arnold, and The King’s Highway.

 Ushers

The usher team at O’Connor Free Methodist Church fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Sunday School/Children’s Church

Sunday School Teachers

In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, OCFM Church holds a Sunday School / children’s church service in conjunction with the main service.  This special time gives kids (ages 4 -12) more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our Sunday School teachers and friendly volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.  Nursery service is also provided for infants and toddlers.

 Vacation Bible School

Each summer our church comes alive with the sounds of praise and laughter (and sometimes, tears) of approximately 50 children aged 3 -12 for an amazing weekend of VBS.   A host of volunteers, engage the children in drama, puppet shows, music, crafts and games that focus on God’s awesome plan of salvation.
